Loan Requirements

The LLNL In Vivo Measurement Facility has always had a policy of assisting other facilities with calibration of in vivo measurement systems. The assistance we offer is free of charge and is not funded by any agency.

Organs Available to Loan

Loan Conditions

  • Loans are provided under a formal laboratory program that requires the completion of a formal Property Loan Request form, which we must complete based on information you supply.
  • The loan is made for a specified period, after which all material must be returned to LLNL. LLNL may reduce the requested loan period to meet LLNL programmatic needs or requests from other facilities. Please limit the loan request period to a minimum.
  • The organization borrowing LLNL materials must have appropriate licenses, and must provide a UPS, FEDex, or other public carrier charge account for shipping the materials to their facility. (Note: LLNL will not bear the cost of shipment.)

Requesting a Loan

If you wish to borrow an LLNL phantom or organ:

  1. Go to the page for the organ you wish to borrow (liver, lungs, lymph nodes, etc.).
  2. Select a set by clicking on its ID number.
  3. Complete the information requested by the form.
  4. Submit it to us so we can complete the required internal form.

Please note that this form may take two to three weeks to process, and another week will be required to ship materials out of LLNL. Delays can occur for shipments of radioactive materials if the LLNL Materials Management Group does not have an NRC license or DOE shipping confirmation for your facility.

Please provide ample time for the processing of this form and shipping when completing the loan request.
